Carter Efe Dethrones Portable as Celebrity Boxing King at Chaos in the Ring 4

Lagos got exactly what it was promised on Friday night. Street artiste and ZaZoo crooner Habeeb ‘Portable’ Badmus suffered his first defeat in celebrity boxing as social media comedian and streamer Carter Efe outclassed him across three rounds to win by unanimous decision at the Chaos in the Ring 4 event held at the Balmoral Hall, Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island.

All three judges scored the bout 27-30 in favour of Efe, stripping Portable of his status as celebrity boxing king. The result was clean, decisive, and left no room for debate.

Portable, who had beaten Charles Okocha and Speed Darlington in previous bouts to claim two belts, had entered the ring with characteristic swagger, promising to add a third title at Efe’s expense.

It didn’t go that way. When the two finally met in the ring, it was Efe who imposed himself from the opening bell. Portable came out throwing wild, erratic punches but Efe, the taller man, responded with uppercuts and sharp body shots. Portable continued to swing wide and clinch across the second and third rounds, but Efe grew sharper as the fight wore on, landing consistently clean combinations.

The crowd got the spectacle they came for. From the opening bell, both entertainers came out swinging with enthusiasm, though technical ability remained painfully low. The energy stayed high — footwork looked awkward, defensive positioning was almost non-existent, and stamina quickly became a visible issue — but the crowd got exactly what it expected: drama, spectacle, and plenty of talking points.

After the final bell, the celebrations kicked off immediately. Lagos socialite and businessman Emeka ‘E-Money’ Okonkwo confirmed he would honour his pledge of N50 million to Carter Efe following the victory.

The event was promoted by Balmoral Group Promotions in association with former world heavyweight champion Amir Khan’s AK Promotions and broadcast live worldwide on DAZN — a signal of just how far the Nigerian boxing scene has travelled.
